A half hour of stories, songs and movement that build early literacy skills and prepare your preschooler ages three to five for Kindergarten.

A half hour of stories, songs, and more to build early literacy skills; a blend of fun and education for children birth through kindergarten & their caregivers. Followed by a play time.

Approx. 30 minutes of stories, songs, & rhymes, plus free play or an activity. Best for ages 3-5, but all families are welcome.

Join Family History Research expert Ginny Hale to learn how DNA works in genealogical research, and how you can use it to solve family mysteries. The focus will be on the Ancestry.com DNA program and their database of information.

Twenty minutes of nursery rhymes, songs, fingerplays and action for infants, birth to 18 months, and their caregivers.

Learn about the giant Alaska octopuses with David Scheel, professor of Marine Biology at Alaska Pacific University. He has researched the behavior and ecology of octopuses for 25 years.

Test your creativity: build a city or a spaceship or whatever you like! You can also challenge your building skills with new projects and designs!

Bring your own project for a social crafting experience. We’d love to see what you are working on. Coloring supplies also available.

Use our Wii, Xbox One, board games, and card games to build strategic thinking and good sporting conduct. Meet new gaming friends, too!

In need of volunteer hours? Every Thursday, we'll be hosting drop-in times with projects for you to help the library!

A relaxed environment for group study, socializing, or gaming. Ask to use our board games, Chromebooks, Xbox, or Wii! 

A new tiny project every week. Projects use small parts, dexterity, and patience; best for ages 6+ with caregiver. Supplies provided.

Introduction to using the library catalog. How to find books and other material, place holds, or find on the shelves. 

Drop in to work at your own pace on a variety of computer topics, including email, Internet, and job searching.

Get creative and make a work of art! We'll have a specific technique to try but also a variety of art supplies to make whatever you want.

Come meet your fellow neighborhood teachers and hear ways the Anchorage Public Library can help you this year. Free food and prizes!
